Join us for a golf tournament in support of Kids with Cancer Society…

We are incredibly proud to be a platinum sponsor of the first annual Charter Wealth Charity Golf Classic, with all proceeds going towards the Kids with Cancer Society. This golf tournament will be held on Thursday, September 11th at the Edmonton Garrison Memorial Golf and Curling Club. Childhood cancer is the number one fatal disease in children. In 1979, a group of concerned parents came together because their children and families needed support that no other organizations were offering. Since then, the Kids with Cancer Society has provided vital programs and services not offered elsewhere to children with cancer and their families who reside in northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. To learn more about the programs and services they offer, or about how you can get involved with the Society, explore their website or call 780.496.2459. If you are interested in getting involved in the Charter Wealth Charity Golf Classic in support of this truly amazing organization ...

She proved to have an incredible aptitude and enthusiasm for Marketing and Public Relations, as such; Cara was promoted to Marketing Coordinator in February 2014. If you’re chatting with us on Facebook, it’s probably Cara sending you the message. ...

Modular/prefab is now mainstream, but it is certainly not new. [Part 2]

Using preassembled building components, in whole or in part, is absolutely a better way to build, but it is certainly not a new construction method. Prefabrication has been around for centuries. This blog is part (2) of the series, blog (1) referenced documented examples of prefab/modular construction pre-1900.  In the 1800’s, before tradespeople and materials were readily available overseas, prefab kit homes were shipped from England throughout the colonies. It wasn’t until the early part of the 20th century that these prefab homes became mass produced in North America. They were sold by Montgomery Ward, Gordon Van Tine, Aladdin and Sears Roebuck. From 1908 – 1940, Sears claims to have sold over 70,000 prefab kit homes across 48 states. Aladdin claims to have sold about 75,000 kit homes.      These homes were ordered out of a catalogue and all of the parts, from 750 pounds of nails to framing lumber to the kitchen sink, were delivered via rail or truck an ...

Modular/prefab is now mainstream, but it is certainly not new. [Part 1]

News articles are frequently popping up about “new” modular or “new” prefab construction methods as both gain popularity throughout the world. Using pre-assembled building components, in whole or in part, is absolutely a better way to build, but it is certainly not a new construction method. Prefabrication has been around for centuries.       Pictured above left, one of the first prefab houses, still standing in Australia today, constructed circa 1830. Pictured above right, the first modular hospital erected in 1855 during the Crimean War. It was disassembled in 1857.  England, circa 3800 BC. The Sweet Track, a prehistoric timber roadway, built in England circa 3800 BC, is believed to be constructed of prefabricated sections brought to site, rather than assembled onsite[1]. Sri Lanka, 12th century A.D. Famous architect, Ashley de Vos, confirms that ancient Sri Lankans had very sophisticated architecture and a tremendous understanding of struc ...

Dreaming of that Recreational Property?

Whether you are dreaming of a modest, 600 square foot plan or a more elaborate custom design - modular construction is ideally suited to fulfill the needs of recreational property owners. Choose from one of our standard cottage plans or custom design your own.  Benefits of building your cottage modularly…  • Modular cottages are delivered to your site 85% or more complete, speeding up the process    immensely and minimizing the environmental impact of home building.  • Modular construction simplifies home building in remote locations. Most home builders are    busy enough in the city; therefore, you may have a difficult time getting them out to a remote    location and will more than likely pay a premium for the service.  • Prices are firm, therefore, no cost overruns on the project.  • Jandel Homes’ recreational products are built to the highest residential building code and    offer year round ...

Although the Jandel Homes’ Sales Centres are strategically placed in key locations in Alberta, we service clients from all across western Canada.  We regularly deliver homes into the North West Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, and even into Manitoba.  There has never been a site that we could not get into, although some have been easier than others.  We've delivered homes across highways, ice roads and even across the waters on the barge.  We respect and truly appreciate that a large number of our customers are travelling, often from great distances to come out and see us and do not want that to become a financial burden.  With that in mind, we are introducing our exclusive Traveller’s Program to assist with the costs.  If you need to travel further than 400 km to tour one of our Sales Centres, simply make arrangements with one of our Housing Consultants and we will set you up with our Concierge Service.  Th ...
