Made In Canada

Buying Canadian made goods and services isn’t just a good idea because we are patriotic. It is a good idea because it supports Canadian jobs and it’s essential for a healthy local economy.

Buying locally made products is also better for the environment. Buying local means that goods are transported across a shorter distance, reducing our carbon footprint. This holds especially true for factory built homes. Consider the distance between transporting a home from Minnesota, for instance, to Edmonton - a distance of 2,000 kilometers!  Homes built in Indiana are transported over 3,000 kilometers.

All of our homes are proudly built in Alberta, supporting over 500 Canadian jobs. Join the conversation #AlbertaBuilt #ABetterWaytoBuild.

Ideas for Building More Curb Appeal into Your Home

Curb appeal reflects an owner’s pride in their home and is the first impression given to the public. Homes with great curb appeal are proven to sell faster and at a higher value than homes that are lacking exterior greatness. Buyers should take as much time selecting exterior details as they do selecting the interior décor.  We’ve added more curb appeal to the modular home pictured above by building it with some interesting dormers, window accents, vertical siding accent and black pillars. A modern slate coloured vinyl siding with a touch of ledgestone accents add an air of sophistication. Once the home arrived on site, we added the front deck with black aluminum railing, black eavestroughing and selected cement parging rather than the typical vinyl skirting found on most modular homes.  Important Considerations When Building Your Home Start at the front door. There are numerous choices with different glass inserts, sidelights and painted or standard white. Money ...

Paying it Forward - Dinner for the Homeless

Over 200,000 Canadians experience homelessness each year. As many as 1.3 million Canadians have unfortunately experienced homelessness over the last five years. Almost 1 in every 5 households are dealing with housing affordability issues, spending over 50% of their income on housing, which puts them at risk of homelessness (source Canada Without Poverty, “Just the Facts”).

Jandel Homes is honoured to be one of the signature sponsors for a special dinner for the homeless on December 18th in Grande Prairie.

If you would like to get involved, there has been an account set up to receive donations, donate now, or call Mark Marshall at 877.504.5005 to see how you can get involved.

Top Ten Reasons to Buy in the Winter

Clients often ask us if it's possible to build and deliver a home in the winter and the answer is ABSOLUTELY! There is no need to hibernate! There are some significant benefits to having your home delivered in the winter.        1.     If you buy property in the fall, you will have to carry the cost of owning the land until you are ready to move. You will also have to carry the cost of your existing mortgage until you move into your new home. Starting the work now rather than later could save you thousands of dollars in carrying costs. 2.     It is considered the “off-season” by most in the housing industry. The slower building season makes it easier to find qualified tradespeople, a significant advantage in the Prairie Provinces, where we still face a tight labour market. 3.     Government offices are usually slower in the winter months, which typically makes the permitting process faster than peak season. 4. ...
